In 1967, the Liverpool show was part of a package tour featuring a fantastic line-up of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Move, The Pink Floyd, The Nice, The Eire Apparent, and The Amen Corner. At the time, all bands were considered top acts. Band members traveled to sixteen cities across the United Kingdom, playing two shows each night. They arrived in Liverpool on November 18 to play the Empire Theater.

Vintage Rock Posters offers a $15,000 reward for original concert posters of the Liverpool Empire Theater show. A British printer produced the 30 x 40 quad poster for advertising the band package in London.

If you have an original Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and the Move band package poster for any of the cities listed above, please take pictures of it and send them to rareboard@aol.com.

Pioneering progressive rock band The Nice had just released their first album, "The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack." The Nice was Keith Emerson's first commercially successful band, with Davy O'List playing lead guitar. The Nice was drawing big crowds at the Marquee in London, and they jumped at the chance to join this package tour. The Pink Floyd, pioneering psychedelic music, had had two pop hits in 1967 with "Arnold Layne" and then "See Emily Play." Syd Barrett, Floyd's lead guitarist, had curly hair and dark good looks, so packs of screaming girls met them at each performance. At the time, Jimi Hendrix and the Experience topped the bill and were very popular in Great Britain. All the bands traveled in a large bus, but The Experience traveled separately.

Each package band tour has its twists and turns. Syd Barrett was not happy with the tour. He would wander off and arrive just in time to join his band on the stage. However, Barrett did not show up for the Liverpool gig, so O'List filled in for him. O'List was asked to wear a hat and took on Barrett's lead guitar role, but he did not fool the audience for long.

Not long after that episode, the Floyd asked David Gilmour to cover for Syd. Finally, in January 1968, while on their way to the gig, the band decided not to pick up Syd and instead perform without him. The Floyd conquered the world with their 1973 "The Dark Side of the Moon" album. They sold over 250 million records worldwide. In 1970, Keith Emerson formed Emerson, Lake & Palmer. O'List played briefly with Jethro Tull and Roxy Music and in 1974 formed glam-influenced band Jet.
